In May, Cyclone Amphan wreaked devastation on Kolkata, uprooting trees, disrupting electricity and telephone lines, in some cases flattening houses and flooding roads.

People across the country rallied to raise funds for relief work, including a group of probashi Bengalis (Bengalis who live outside Bengal) and native Kolkatans joined by a Whatsapp group. Well-known Kolkatans from around the globe pledge to use their time and talent and unite under one cause: to entertain their city and raise funds for Amphan victims.

‘Kolkata Calling 2020’ is a show with recorded performances by folks, who’ve made a name for themselves in various fields of the performing arts. The line-up includes comedian Papa CJ (pictured above), singer Aditi Paul, musician Druv Kent, cricket commentator Gautam Bhimani, multi-genre ban Roots and singer Tritha Sinha among others.

The entire ticket proceeds of the show will be distributed among three NGOs involved in relief efforts in Kolkata. They are:

Garbage Free India (www.garbagefreeindia.org)

Sabuj Sangha (www.sabujsangha.org)

Sanjog India (www.sanjogindia.org)
