Silly Souls, the organisation putting together Tafreeh Theatre Festival, describes the event as a new generation Diwali mela. Instead of rides, food stalls and handicraft exhibitions, the fest will offer plays, book readings, comedy, music gigs, storytelling and poetry open mics. The line-up of plays includes Big B (pictured above) by Sayeed Alam and Neeti Phool, Kuljeet Singh’s Perfect Wedding, Arvind Gaur’s Court Martial, Vo Afasana by Shamir Abadan, Nikunj’s Ek Mulakat and Diploma in Corruption by JP Singh. If you’re keen to show off your poetic or musical skills, then get in touch with Silly Souls for an open mic spot on 95604-88860. And since no Diwali, no matter how modern, is incomplete without chaat, feast on some top festive treats. For the schedule, see here.

When: Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20.
Where: Silly Soul Studios, 29/1, Alipur Road, Railway Colony, Civil Lines.
