The internet has found a new singing sensation, and it’s Indo-Canadian singer, Jonita Gandhi. Having collaborated with several upcoming musicians, Jonita Gandhi rose to fame after her unplugged version of ‘Pani Da‘ went viral. Soon, the singer began singing songs for films and composers like A. R. Rahman and Vishal-Shekhar. If there’s one thing about her that caught our attention, it’s her ability to sing in a number of languages, including Tamil and Bengali. Here’s a list of the singer’s best renditions.
Iconic singers, S. P. B and Sadhana Sargam brought a magical element to the Tamil song Medhuvagathaan from Kochadaiiyaan. You have to admit it, replicating the same feeling for the Hindi version of the song is almost impossible! But Jonita Gandhi and Arijit Singh added their own signature quality, and it was soul-stirring. Jonita took this song to a whole new level by rendering an unplugged version, in Tamil and Hindi.
Samjhawan was one of the most popular songs of 2014, and had a phenomenal reach. Steve Cliff and Jonita performed the Tamil version of this song. Although the lyrics did seem a little unflattering, Jonita’s voice was perfectly in sync with the tune of the song. And her perfect pronunciation made it hard for us to believe that Tamil is an alien language to the singer.
