Heritage Cycling Ride

Tour the city’s heritage areas on two wheels and wrap up with a cold beer. The ride covers such sights as the Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly Prince of Wales Museum), St Thomas Cathedral, The Asiatic Society and the University of Mumbai.

Nakshatra Dance Festival

The annual classical dance festival will feature performances choreographed by leading dancers such as Leela Samson, Rama Vaidyanathan, Bimbavati Devi, Sharmila Biswas, Rajendra Gangani and Vikram Iyengar. On Saturday, watch Murchhana: The Eternal Spirit of Music, an Odissi performance by Sharmila Biswas and the Odissi Vision and Movement Centre, and Vivartana, a bharatanatyam performance by Rama Vaidyanathan and her troupe. On Sunday, watch Antarparva: A Journey Within, Rajendra Gangani’s kathak recital, and Nadi: The River, a bharatanatyam show by Leela Samson and her company Spanda.

Mumbai Oktoberfest 2018

It’s time for Oktoberfest, which means a weekend of quaffing German beers, feasting on German food and dancing to Die Kirchdorfer, a band that has played the Munich Oktoberfest since 1994. The festivities are part of German Days in Mumbai 2.0, a showcase of German business, tourism, education, sport and lifestyle.
When: Friday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14 at 6pm. The German Days exhibition is open from 4pm to 11pm.
Where: Royal Western India Turf Club, Mahalaxmi Racecourse.

Sparks Fly

Singer Pranjali Barve will perform covers of memorable pop songs by artists such as Madonna, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Selena Gomez and Idina Menzel with the band Hotpocket.

An Evening of Latin Jazz and Soulful Sounds

Listen to Latin jazz by The Bombay Jazz Club, a group comprising Karim Ellaboudi on keys, bassist D Wood and percussionist Emmanuel Simon.

11th Bansuri Utsav

Attend this celebration of the flute organised by flautist Vivek Sonar, which will feature performances by various musicians including sarod artists Aman and Ayan Ali Bangash.

Come Together

Come Together, a series of events that aims to familiarise young folk with Indian classical music, will feature violinist Manas Kumar, flautist Ashwin Srinivasan and table player Swapnil Bhise in this instalment.

Directed by Nadir Khan and written by Rahul da Cunha and Bugs Bhargava Krishna, #SingIndiaSing (pictured above) is the latest Aadyam play. The musical is set in a singing talent contest in which four singers must compete fiercely against each other.

‘Ismat Manto’s Jugalbandi’

Actors Jayesh Yadav and Priyanka Bhalerao will perform stories by two celebrated Urdu writers, Ismat Chugtai and Saadat Hasan Manto.

‘Rumi aur Manto’

Actor Mohit Sharma will deliver a solo performance in which the sufi poet Rumi and Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto meet at a literature festival, which has Chetan Bhagat and Karan Johar as guests. The two try to figure why they continue to be popular in the modern world.
When: Saturday, October 13 at 7.30pm.

Thane Marathon

Runners will rejoice at this chance to jog in the company of fellow fitness enthusiasts. Sign up for either a 5km marathon from Viviana Mall to Bethany Hospital or a 10km marathon from the mall to Upvan Lake.
