With Navratri celebration just around the corner, we are bubbling with excitement. And with the nine days of celebrations, comes the big question – ‘What am I going to wear this Navratri?‘. Yes, it’s time to do some serious glam check. So, before the party starts, upgrade your festive wardrobe with these fashion tips:

  • You can make your traditional chaniya-choli slightly-edgy by adding your personal touch to it. Try fusing Indian and Western elements. How about a crop top with a long mirror-work skirt? Or maybe a corset choli, if you have a toned body line. Try choosing brighter colors to blend in with the festive mood. But, avoid wearing very heavily-embroidered ghaghras or highly-detailed cholis, if you are planning to hit the dance floor.

Men can give a try to Jodhpuri pants or pathani salwars paired with a waist-jacket. Pair it with a scarf or safa of a contrasting color. You can also try out quirky-printed pyjama with a solid color kurta.

  • Accessorize your outfit. If your outfit is heavy, try to avoid gaudy jewelry. But try to keep it minimal. You can opt for long earrings, maang tikkas, bangles and small chokers for the neck.

  • Bored with your same old hairstyle? Try out some cool new looks and pep up your style quotient. If you are not too keen on going for a totally new haircut, maybe you can play with your hair a bit. Funk it up with a hippie hairband, or maybe a messy side hair bun, to keep the look easy yet stylish. Men can opt for fancy turbans or berets.

  • To get the right footwear is important, if you are planning to dance all night long. Make sure your dancing shoes are comfy and light. Also ensure the soles are fine. Rubber or plastic soles can put a lot of pressure on your knees and ankles, putting you at risk of injuries. If you prefer heels over flats, go for mid-heels.

  • Are you more into designer wear? If you love lush fabrics and a play of colors, check out the drool-worthy collections of Manish Arora, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Ritu Kumar.
