Have you ever watched a ballet? Contrary to what people will have you believe, the ballet is a beautiful art form, where music and dance combine to create a magnificent spectacle. While ballets are not very popular in India, the art form is slowly making its way into stages across the country. One of the most beloved and quintessential ballets of all time, Tchaikovsky’s timeless classic – Swan Lake – is currently being performed in India. Presented by Navrasa Duende and Royal Russian Ballet, this spectacle had its first season in Mumbai, where it was a massive hit among the audiences. Now, the world-class ballet is coming to Delhi, from the 30th of March.
What You Must Know About Swan Lake:
Swan Lake essentially is a tragic love story, yet unlike something you have seen before. Beautiful women are bewitched into swans by an evil sorcerer. Like all stories, this curse can be broken by true love. So when Prince Siegfried falls in love with the Swan Queen, all seems well, until the sorcerer tricks him using his own daughter, who is disguised as the Swan Queen. Will the lovers vanquish the evil at hand or meet a tragic end? You must watch the ballet to find out. You can read our full review of the performance in Mumbai right here.
