Mumbai, the city of dreams is the hub for movie buffs. Apart from being the financial capital of the country, it is also the home to one of the biggest cinema powerhouse in the world, our beloved Bollywood.

Over the years, the audience is demanding for a change of scene on the big screen and Bollywood doesn’t fail to oblige. The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) is one such platform for the budding filmmakers and audience to dip their toes into the warm waters and experience something unconventional. After a successful run of 16 years, MAMI is back with its 17th edition providing a gateway to world cinema and a gateway to Indian cinema for the world. Last year, the festival came very close to being called off after losing sponsors and going bankrupt, but luckily the spirit of cinema prevailed. Now, thanks to donations from both the title sponsor, Reliance Jio Infocomm and the associate sponsor partner, STAR India, MAMI is back with a bang and is only bigger and better.

The panel of MAMI consists of some of Bollywood’s bigwigs including Anupama Chopra, Kiran Rao, Siddharth Roy Kapur and  Karan Johar to name a few. MAMI announced and issued its Call for Entries last month through a specially produced film that brought together four of the industry’s leading production houses. With an overwhelming show of support from members of the Indian Film fraternity, who have come together to commit their time and resources, it’s safe to say that this edition of the film festival is going to have some seriously good surprises up its sleeves.

MAMI being Mumbai’s only film festival entirely created and run by film professionals and a group of members from corporate India, is moving way beyond cinema and theatre to set up an easily accessible cultural hub, making the festival an extensive experience. And, with none other than Anupama Chopra carrying the baton forward, we can expect to have a fine cinematic experience delivered by the best creative talents from the country and abroad. Catch what your favourite celebs had to say about MAMI 2015, right here:
