Director: Tomas Alfredson
Cast: Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Fergusson, Chloe Sevigny, Val Kilmer, J. K. Simmons
Based on the book by Jo Nesbø, The Snowman is a crime thriller set in Norway about a serial killer who leaves a snowman behind as a chilling reminder of his involvement in the murder. Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) and a brilliant recruit, Katherine (Rebecca Ferguson) investigate a disappearance of someone who just might be the victim of the killer who will kill just before the next snowfall.
The director, Tomas Alfredson, is a Swedish director who last directed the 2011 film, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and previously, Let The Right One In. This will be a big comeback for the director, and it's one that is being eagerly looked forward to. The Snowman was going to be directed by Martin Scorcese, but Alfredson took over the production and Scorcese kept on as an executive producer.
Michael Fassbender is a charming lead that you might know from Alien: Covenant, Assassins' Creed, and his role as the young Magneto in X-Men series. Playing opposite him is Rebecca Fergusson, who's recently been seen in the sci-fi thriller, Life, and the thriller, The Girl on the Train. It also stars J. K. Simmons, who was last seen in a small appearance in La La Land and will soon be seen in Justice League. Val Kilmer, who's been seen in very few roles in the past few years, also has a part in the film as Gert Rafto. The Snowman will also feature a small cameo by author Jo Nesbø.
After the recent success of intense crime thrillers adapted from cleverly crafted books like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, and The Girl on The Train, The Snowman might just be next in line to be a critically-acclaimed hit. One thing's for sure – it will lead you down a road full of many twists and turns.
