Raveena Tandon's comeback film, Maatr, which deals with the grim subject of rape is set to release on April 21, 2017.
Director: Ashtar Sayed
Producer: Anjum Rizvi, Manoj Adhikari, Innama Sayed
Editor: Manoj Magar
Background & Story:
Maatr is the story of Vidya (Raveena Tandon), a mother who is left shattered after her daughter, Tia (Alisha Khan), is murdered. She seeks vengeance by fighting the broken judicial system.
In this film, Raveena Tandon plays a rather fierce and unconventional character. Her character goes from being the helpless mother of a rape victim to being a powerful woman who takes matters into her own hands and gets ready to seek revenge.
Tandon, who was last seen in a cameo in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet (2015), revealed that playing the character was not only an emotionally draining experience but also a fulfilling one. She also mentioned in an interview that shooting for the film left her disturbed for days as she could only imagine the brutality victims and their families have to go through.
Besides Raveena Tandon, the film also stars Alisha Khan and Madhur Mittal in pivotal roles.
The trailer of the film was out a few days ago. It highlights the failure of the judiciary to deliver justice in time. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it here:
