Vir Das is back and we are not talking about his Netflix special or his upcoming stand-up special. He is back on the big screen after what seems like ages, when it was only last year we saw him in Shivaay. In the meanwhile, he has achieved a lot and now with Patel ki Punjabi Shaadi, we can expect a laugh riot. India is a country of many cultures and as regions vary, so do the customs, and they don't always agree with each other. Two such regions are Punjab and Gujarat. While Punjabis like their fair share of spirits, Gujarat is a dry state. But, having said that, the two also have a lot in common like their love for color and dancing. It will surely be a treat to see these two cultures collide.
Starring Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor as the patriarchal heads of a Gujarati family and a Punjabi family respectively, this movie revolves around a wedding, obviously. Vir Das plays Rishi Kapoor's son who has fallen in love with a Gujarati girl played by debutante Payal Ghosh. The trailer lets you know all about the friction between these families and all you can expect from the movie.
The film has been shot in Mumbai and Surat, lending an authentic feel to the story with some scenes also shot in a 200-year-old Forbes Gujarati Sabha library in Mumbai. The movie is all set to hit theatres on 15th September.
