"I only know one truth. It's time for the Jedi… to end."
– Luke Skywalker
Forty years ago in a galaxy not so far away, George Lucas introduced us to the world of Jedis and Siths. While the thought of a Death Star filled us with horror, there were also things like Lightsabres, Ewoks, and Wookies which made the whole thing worth the while. Every decade or so since the first Star Wars movie (Episode IV) came out, the galaxy far far away keeps expanding. Even the new trilogy is specially made for the fans who have stuck with the series for so long. But it doesn't stop there, spin-offs are the flavor of the season and with movies like Rogue One and the new Han Solo movie, we cannot wait to see what the upcoming decade brings to us. The Last Jedi, the eighth episode of the Skywalker saga (fans will agree with me when I say that) is releasing in theatres on 15th December and here's everything we know about the movie.
Right from the time we saw the last scene of The Force Awakens, we were anticipating what the story of The Last Jedi will be like. Even before the title was revealed, there was speculation that it will be similar to The Empire Strikes Back with Rey replacing Luke and Luke replacing Yoda. Once the title was revealed, the fans were quick to jump to the conclusion that either Luke or Rey will breathe their last in this movie until a fan pointed out that Jedi is also the plural form of that noun. Soon after that, the poster came out and Star Wars posters have followed a similar pattern of having the villain loom over in the background. So with Luke occupying that space, we believe that he is the big bad guy in this one.
After the teasers and the trailers have been released here are a few things which are clear. Luke undertakes the task to train Rey but gives up halfway because of what happened with Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren. Rey then has a choice to join forces with Kylo (see what we did there). But her decision is not clear. On the other hand, Princess Leia might suffer the same fate as her husband. But on the brighter side, Ewoks can move over because Porgs are now the cutest things ever. Finn is also on an alien planet still continuing his work for the resistance against the First Order.
While the old favorites return, we will get to see Supreme Leader Snoke (the one who turned Kylo Ren to the dark side) for the first time in the flesh. It would seem that he has a very personal bone to pick with the resistance and hence he plays a role in Kylo. Even Benicio Del Toro has joined the cast although his role is also kept under wraps. While Daniel Craig was a stormtrooper in Episode VII, Tom Hardy will get an opportunity to be one this time. The British Princes also seemed to have had the honor of becoming stormtroopers.
