Wolverine is one of the most famous X-Men characters, who has appeared in every X-Men film. Hugh Jackman, who has immortalized the role of Wolverine, will now be seen in the newest and the last installment (third, to be precise) of the Wolverine spin-off series, Logan.
There have been many films of this franchise which released in an anachronistic fashion and it's understandable to lose the plot of what has happened until now. The movie X-Men: Days Of The Future Past (2014) really confused us with its time-wimey-future-past antics. It started to get really complicated to keep up with Wolverine, and the series in general. The movie created two timelines: an original timeline and an altered timeline. Since film X-Men: Days of The Future Past was set in 1973, it changed the whole timeline after 1973. However, anything that happened before 1973 remains unchanged. For example, whatever happened in X-Men: First Class (2011), which was set in 1962, remains unchanged. Some scenes of the early 19th and 20th century shown in Wolverine spin-offs also remains unchanged. Are you with us until now? Super!
The original timeline had events that occur in the movies X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and The Wolverine (2013). We can see the events occurring on the altered timeline in the movies X-Men Apocalypse (2016) and now Logan (2017).
We know how confusing it can get but that is no reason to be unable to enjoy Logan this weekend. So we got your back. Here are two detailed infographics that will help you through the events of both the timelines.
Take a look at the events that occur in the original timeline:
Here is a detailed account of what happened in the altered timeline:
