F1: Countdown to the Airtel Indian GP

A few things to look forward to at the circuit that has been mastered twice by Sebastian Vettel-

-Vettel could become the third ever 4-time World Champion in the history of F1 at Buddh.

-He needs to finish 4th or above, irrespective of his nearest rival Alonso (97 points behind)

-Alonso could break the points scoring record in India, previously held by Schumacher.

-The Indian GP could return not in 2014, but in 2015 after a one-year hiatus.

-Vettel is the only driver to win the Indian GP. 2011 and 2012.

With just two days left to go for the third Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit, Noida- here is a lowdown on the top 12 drivers ready to do battle:

Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull)
3-time World Champion, a breaker of most world records, youngest ever triple World Champion winner. India could be where he seals it- the best driver of the generation.

Mark Webber (Red Bull)
He has been with Red Bull since 2007, and this will be his last ever F1 season. No win, but 5 podiums this season. He finished 3rd in the Championship in 2010 and 2011.

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari)
The Double World Champion is on his way to his 3rd second-place finish in four seasons with Ferrari. That must hurt.

Felipe Massa (Ferrari)
His 6 wins in 2007 on the way to a second place finish remains his almost-there season. In the last 5 years with Ferrari (out of 8), he has finished 6th in the championship twice. He has NOT WON a race for 6 years. This will be his final season with Ferrari.

Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus-Renault)
The ex-World Champion and future and ex Ferrari driver stands no chance in 2013, but will look to be the no. 1 OR no. 2 driver with Ferrari next year along with strong competitor Alonso after a strong few comeback seasons.

Romain Grosjean (Lotus-Renault)
4 podiums this season is sort of a breakthrough for the promising destructive French driver, who is playing second fiddle to Finn Raikkonen.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
The Ex-World Champion is going through his usual up-and-down season. He has won only 1 race this season, as compared to Rosberg’s two, but has been more consistent despite a Japan retirement.

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes)
Another German driver, blessed with a weaker car. His two 1st place finishes puts him in sixth place in the drivers championship in 2013.

Jenson Button (McLaren Mercedes)
The 33 year old ex World Champion is going through his worst season in 6 years. He is currently 9th, after winning 3 races in 2012 with his unpredictable car.

Sergio Perez (McLaren Mercedes)
Often hailed as the next big thing, the 23 year old Mexican is struggling through his first season with a major team. Currently in 13th position.

Paul Di Resta (Force India)
The Scottish driver has been with Force India since his debut in 2010, and has managed a 4th place finish this year. He is still ahead of Perez in 11th position.

Adrian Sutil (Force India)
The Italian driver is the no. 1 for his team, but lies behind Di Resta in 12th this year. His best has been a 5th place finish at Monaco in 2013.
