Two years after the unexpected success of ABCD – Any Body Can Dance, director Remo D’Souza is back with the much-awaited sequel, ABCD 2, starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Few dance films have had an impact on Bollywood in terms of story and execution. ABCD did that to everyone’s surprise. The sequel is even bigger and better with regards to dance per se. Unfortunately, the film does nothing more to wow its audience, apart from the dance sequences.

A story on underdogs will always have takers in Bollywood. ABCD 2 is based on the real life of Suresh and Vernon of the Fictitious Group from the suburbs of Mumbai. It showcases their journey to the World Hip Hop Championship in Las Vegas. Suresh (Varun Dhawan) and his team of friends-cum-dancers are accused of cheating in a dance competition held in Mumbai. Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor) is the only female dancer in the troupe, who obviously has feelings for ‘Suru’. Shamed on national television by the judges, the ‘Mumbai Stunners’ are labelled as copycats/cheaters. Suru, whose late mother’s only dream was to see her son dance, takes it upon himself to get rid of the tag. Enter Vishnu sir (Prabhudheva), who agrees to mentor the young kids after much persistence, but has ulterior motives. The rest of the film shows how the ‘Mumbai Stunners’ transform into the ‘Indian Stunners’ from Mumbai to Las Vegas.
Let’s cut straight to the positives first: Remo ensures the dance routines are beyond perfect. Varun and Shraddha have worked hard on their dancing skills, and it shows in their performance. The sets are amazing, and the choreography is nothing short of glamorous. For most part of the film, you will see jaw-dropping dance moves and you won’t complain. DID stars Dharmesh, Punit and Raghav (Krockroach) are mind-blowing, and they have been given enough screen space. After all, it is supposed to be a dance-based film. The final act is filled with patriotic fervor, as was the case with ABCD. It will definitely make you stand up and applaud.
But every film has its share of flaws. The direction could have been better, as some of the scenes look like they’re randomly put together. When you watch a sequel to a hit film, comparisons are bound to happen. ABCD was a smooth, unforced ride. However, the sequel tries too hard to make it work. Tisca Chopra makes a guest appearance, Lauren Gottlieb is underutilized and Prabhudheva carries the same role from ABCD, adding nothing more to the story.
Why should you watch the film?
Apart from its fantastic dance sequences, the film gives you a sincere Varun Dhawan (How can you not love him?), 3D put to good use and a climax that you will enjoy.

Watchable once, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor…more than Awesome!
Very short story, full movie is of 2:30 hours…With 2 hours of dance only.
First part(ABCD) of the sequel was far better than ABCD2…coz it had a story.
I will give 3.5 stars out of 5….1 star for Varun and Shraddha, 1 for Prabhudeva and rest for the dance!!
