Five Actresses Who Rocked the Minimal Make Up Look

Being an actress is no easy job. Apart romancing heroes, and performing intense scenes that a character requires, they are often dolled up and coated in layers of makeup – in an aim to constantly look flawless. In a time when contouring rules the roost, fake lashes and bright lip colors are regularly sported by heroines, it’s always a pleasant surprise to see several actresses shunning heavy makeup in the movies. This is often done specifically to sink into their characters for particular movies. Here are five actresses who dared to go makeup-free in their movies and won hearts instantly:

Deepika Padukone in Bajirao Mastani

In the promos of Bajirao Mastani, we see Deepika Padukone in an absolute natural look. Apparently, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had instructed the lead actress of his movie to wear minimal to no makeup to make her look seem authentic. The actress plays the role of Mastani in the film.

Kareena Kapoor Khan in Omkara

“Beauty lies in being simple and natural and this is what I believe in. This is the real me”

Makeup or no makeup, Bebo always ensures that she looks her best in her movies. When she played the role that was an interpretation of Desdemona from William Shakespeare’s Othello in Omkara, she brought a certain level of vulnerability to her character. She didn’t mind going de-glam for her role in Dev either.

Katrina Kaif in Raajneeti

She could be criticized for her acting skills by many but when it comes to getting into the skin of the character she plays, Katrina Kaif leaves no stone unturned. The actress decided to go makeup free for her role in Rajneeti and it worked in her favor for sure. The pretty girl looks every bit of a diva nonetheless.

Rani Mukerji in Talaash

Rani Mukerji too went makeup-free to play the role of a distressed mother in Talaash. And playing this role meant she looked the part of a woman who is grieving the loss of a son and making sure her husband comes to term with the loss too. A challenging role that demanded a zero-glamour look; one she pulled off with panache.

Yami Gautam in Gouravam

Pretty and fresh face Yami Gautam chose the minimal makeup route too for her Telugu film, Gouravam. And boy, she looked gorgeous!
