Five Feel-Good Films for a Lazy Weekend!

What is the recipe for a perfect weekend? Good food, a few close friends and an awesome movie. Yup, it is as simple as that. Partying is fun, of course. But at times, we all need to take it easy and calm down. And nothing can be as relaxing as a good movie. When it comes to selecting a film, we tend to get a little confused. All sorts of questions come up- “What’s new?”, “Comedy or horror?”, “Classic or indie?”. But hey, it doesn’t have to be that difficult. Specially when we are here to help.

To make your weekend fun and filmy, we have listed five feel-good films that you can rely on. Best enjoyed with a tub of popcorn!

Annie Hall

A Woody Allen classic. This film is like hot chocolate for the soul. Starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton in the lead roles, Annie Hall is a witty masterpiece. The film tells a story about love and relationships in the 70s. This bittersweet romantic comedy will make you laugh and cry at the same time.

Groundhog Day

Trust a Bill Murray movie to cheer you up, and you won’t disappointed. This film is about a TV weatherman caught in a time warp; Bill Murray is, of course, the weatherman in question. His strange predicament will have you laughing and sympathising in turns. Big bonus: the gorgeous Andie MacDowell is also in the film.

Singin’ in the Rain

A musical can always spread some cheer! And there’s nothing more musical, happy and funny than Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen’s Singin’ in the Rain. Dance, songs, witty punchlines… this musical has it all! No matter how many times you’ve watched it, the magic of Singin’ in the Rain never gets old.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

This film is a visual treat. Directed by Ben Stiller, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a dream come true. With its brilliant cinematography, this film will transport you to faraway lands. Weekends and daydreaming? A match made in heaven!

The Illusionist

The Illusionist is a stunning animation film by Sylvain Chomet. This film is based on a never-filmed script by French comedy-great Jacques Tati. If you want to watch a soulful animation film, The Illusionist is just right for you. The film traces the story of an old magician named Tatischeff and a young woman who idolizes him. While watching the film, keep the tissue-box close by. The Illusionist is a melancholy film, which might reduce you to tears temporarily, but will ultimately leave you feeling uplifted.
