Five typical Bollywood mothers!

What is a life without mothers? And where will cinema be without ‘MA’! Our films have given us some outstanding and sometimes typical types of mothers. Here’s a quick look into the five that top the list!

The Melodra’Ma’
The mothers who will dissolve into tears at the slightest nudge. One of the most important elements in the Bollywood masala mixes, the melodra’Ma’ will leave your eyes moist with her selfless love and faith in her children. Remember how Rakhi cried ‘Mere Karan Arjun Aaenge!’

The Sauteli ‘Ma’
The mother from hell, Bollywood step-mothers are the ones whom will make you squirm in your seat. Remember Aruna Irani from ‘Beta’, where she insists her step-son (Anil Kapoor) go without education and be forever naïve! She even tries to usurp all the family wealth by spiking his pregnant wife’s (Madhuri Dixit) glass of milk with poison! Oh, that woman should burn in hell!
The Loud ‘Ma’
The world and its whims can go to hell because the loud ‘Ma’ will ask embarrassing questions and ensure that her child is eating and resting well. Remember Kirron Kher running behind Rani Mukerji in ‘Hum Tum’, at the airport with a pooja-thali in hand! You got it: it’s Ma ka pyaar, tilak aur aachaar!
The Sasu ‘Ma’
The Bollywood mother-in-laws are a mix of sweet and spice. Sweet to their own offspring but perpetually pissed off with their significant others! The yesteryear actress Lalita Pawar was so good at being the evil mother-in-law, that some MILs might have taken lessons from her.
The Ideal ‘Ma’
Perfection! The sweet, caring confidante who supports you through every life decision and forgives easy. Who can forget the ever smiling Farida Jalal in DDLJ, who wants her daughter to be happy. She even asks her to elope with the love of her life! Too good to be true but sweet nonetheless!
