Freaky Ali: Film Review – An Absolute Laugh Riot!

Verdict: Nawazuddin Siddiqui hits the right shot with this comic role.

The three Khan brothers join forces once again to give us another light film, Freaky Ali. In this film, you will see Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a completely different, comic role. Most of us are used to watch Nawazuddin ace antagonist roles in his films, but with Freaky Ali, he is all set to make you laugh out loud. Another splendid thing about this movie is that this film gives you an introduction to golf, and it definitely manages to divert your attention from cricket.

At the beginning of the film, Nawazuddin (Ali) is shown as an underwear salesman who is pretty much frustrated with his job. He is a talented sportsman but doesn’t have the right exposure or the means to do something about it. One day he curses his luck for running out on him at every juncture of his life. That’s when he meets Maqsood (Arbaaz Khan) a small-time gangster who collects debt for his boss Danger bhai (Nikitin Dheer). They get Ali involved in their business and from there on Ali’s finances become stable. Ali starts liking his new job and moves on with his life, but little does he know that his next debt collection meeting will change his life forever. He gets introduced to golf, and Kishanlal (Asif Basra) volunteers to become his coach and tries to convince Ali to chose an ethical career path.

From that point on, Ali starts focusing on golf and sets on a mission to be come a golfer in an attempt to make his mother (Seema Biswas) proud and give her all the luxuries in life. To become a golfer, he needs to enroll himself into a golfing tournament. On his journey to become a golfer, He meets his arch rival Vikram (Jas Arora) and finds his love interest Megha (Amy Jackson). Since golf is considered to be the sport of the elite, Vikram looks down on Ali and his team and tries his best to put him down. Will Ali manage to win the tournament despite this, and make his mother proud? Watch Freak Ali to witness his journey.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the dark horse of Bollywood. Every time you watch him on screen, he adds a new dimension to his role. From his facial expressiosn to his demeanor, his portrayal of all his roles in is on point. And with Freaky Ali he has proven that he can definitely play all kinds of comical and romantic roles. Amy Jackson and Nawazuddin’s pairing is unique, but it definitely suits the story. Arbaaz Khan was also brilliant and he has managed to make us laugh with his antics. In short, Sohail Khan has made a really good attempt to make his comeback count!

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
All the Nawazuddin Siddiqui fans are in for a treat. You watched him play serious roles and comic roles in bits and pieces in films such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and The Lunchbox, but now you will get to see his “freaky” side that will leave you in splits!
