Geri’s Game – Short Film Review

People are always pressed for time and in such a case it is always necessary to spread your message in as little time as possible. That's where a short film comes in handy. It is not necessary for a short film to always have an underlying message. Sometimes it can be pure entertainment and we absolutely love such stories.

To watch a Pixar movie is an absolute delight. Pixar shorts were added fun. These were feel-good short films, which were just absolutely entertaining and one of these was the Academy Award-winning Geri's Game.

With old age comes a lot things – pains, illness and sometimes loneliness. But all is not lost and this short film is about that. Geri is as you might have guessed is an old man who is sitting in a park and playing chess with himself (you must have done so too). But his way is a little different. The Geri we see on both the sides of the chess board are two completely different personalities and it is amusing and convincing to such an extent that you forget for a moment that it is the same person. With a bit of cheating, obviously, Geri wins at entertaining us thoroughly.

Pixar shorts are known for their sense of humor and underlying messages that are passed on without being too evident about it. Written and directed by Jan Pinkava, we can totally see why it was so loved. If you haven't caught this adorable film yet, now is the right time for it.
