While the scorching heat has become the trending topic in the city, everyone seems to be missing out on the fact that monsoon kicks in, in just 2 weeks (which is not so bad now, is it?). The bhuttas, the bhajias, the vada pav paired with garma-garam chai is already making our mouths water. But what about the wet clothes, the washed-off make-up and not to forget, the hideous looking mud stains! Yes, they are all a part of the package, too. So, for all the girls out there, here’s a list of things you should probably keep ready in order to be carefree and enjoy the pleasant weather coming soon.
1) Be the first to make your pick!
The umbrella is your most powerful weapon for the season and since it is available in a variety of colors and prints, why not get the best one while its available? Few weeks into the monsoon, all you’re going to find is solid blacks. So, why wait? Hurry up, and go umbrella-shopping to make your pick today itself!
2) Don’t forget the waterproof make-up!
Now, being a girl means dealing with great difficulties on a daily basis. One of them is looking pretty at all times, even when it’s rainy. So, to save yourself from looking like a disaster, a good idea would be to avoid heavy make-up which may smudge. Moreover, opt for waterproof foundation and mascara, and keep it as simple as you can.
3) Time to get all your ‘shorts and skirts’ out of the closet
Rain means puddles. More than that- mud puddles. You wouldn’t want to risk spoiling your favorite pair of jeans like that. Now is the time your shorts and skirts could come in handy. One suggestion would be to keep them ready so you can quickly slip into them when it starts pouring, and not have to hunt for them last minute.
4) Are you wearing the right footwear?
No matter how perfect your hair, make-up and attire is, keeping the rain in mind, if your footwear is not ideal for the monsoon, you’re in for a bad day. One slip, and all your efforts are down the drain. There’s plenty of stylish monsoon footwear in the market one would love to own. From flip-flops to ballerinas to floaters, they have it all. Again, don’t wait till the last minute to make your choice. There’s limited stock. Run!
5) Say ‘NO’ to whites
White is definitely not your friend for this season. Not only does it get dirty fast but it also gets transparent which can be embarrassing and problematic at the same time. Try sticking to dark colors as much as possible.
6) What’s your fabric?
For the next few months, you might want to watch the fabric you wear which basically means you should opt for materials that dry quickly. Polyester, nylon, lycra and light cotton not only dry quickly but are easy to remove mud stains from, too.
7) Is your handbag water-resistant?
Make sure your bag lets you roam about carefree. Enjoying the rain, and then crying over dead phones and wet books is not something you want to do. Thank God for waterproof bags. Get drenched and let a water-resistant bag take care of everything else for you!
Now that you have all this taken care of, have a happy monsoon! 🙂
