As women, most of us tend to put in a lot of time, effort, attention and care to our nails. But, setting up frequent manicure appointments usually turns out to be expensive. Moreover, we may not always have the time to go to the salon every other week.

Eye Shadow
If you would love for your eye makeup and manicure to be in the same shade, this is for you. All you need to do is add some eye shadow to transparent nail polish.

To create lace nails, cut lace to fit your nails. Apply these over a coat of nail paint.

Want polka dots on your nails? Use the rounded end of an ordinary bobby pin. Just dip and dab.

Plastic Bag
To create a marble effect, use an ordinary plastic bag, crumple it up and press it on your nails while the top coat is still wet.

Use an ordinary makeup sponge to get great ombre nails. Just dip the sponge in water, wring it, and then paint the ombre on the sponge. Now stamp the polish onto your nail.

Use newspaper to create an unusual manicure. All you need is some nail paint, cotton pads and a liquid like vodka or cologne to help transfer letters onto your nails. Dip each nail into the alcohol for five seconds each. Take a piece of newspaper, press it firmly on your nail using a cotton pad. Once complete, apply a top coat.

To get a matte manicure, try this easy trick. Boil some water in a pan. Apply nail polish on your nails and hold them over the steam for a few minutes.

Tea Bag
A tea bag can help repair a broken nail. Cut out a rectangle from it. Paint your nail, then dab some glue over the break and attach the rectangle to the nail.

To finish, apply several layers of transparent nail polish.

To make a combination of glossy and matte areas on your nails, use potato starch. Apply the nail polish of your choice. Next, mix some transparent polish with starch on wax paper until smooth.

Quickly apply the mixture on the part of the nail you want matte.
