One of the awesome things about Guardians of the Galaxy was the Awesome Mix .1, which was a gift from the Star-Lord's mother to him. When James Gunn was wrapping up the first movie, the studio was still skeptic about the importance given to the soundtrack – "Nobody would want to hear that". Yet the director stood his ground and the album topped the charts coming second only to Frozen. It also set a record for an album that featured songs, all re-released. The first album boasted of a collection of the likes of "Hooked On A Feeling" by Blue Swede and "Moonage Dream" by David Bowie. This album was an ode to the late 60's and 70's and it is no surprise that people have been eagerly waiting for the Awesome Mix. 2 album to drop. The mixed tape made an appearance towards the end of the first movie. We have been eagerly waiting to see what kind of retro pop memories it unleashes. The wait is over now. Marvel has finally released the soundtrack and it is everything we could hope for and some more. Did you know that Electric Light Orchestra is a personal favorite of the director and he considers the band to be the go-to band for the Guardians?
