Interior DesignerHe maybe the King of Bollywood but at home, it’s definitely the Queen who calls the shots. The chic and classy lady is a big name in the interior designing world. And it’s definitely bigger than what SRK’s stardom could bestow on her.Her first project was her own palatial house, Mannat. Touted to be one of the most expensive houses in India, the 6-storey mansion located in Mumbai, echoes the larger than life persona of SRK.
After learning through her experiments, she collaborated with Suzanne Khan in 2010, and the stylish duo’s first venture was a 60,000-sq.ft. private home in Vadodara. After many such successful designs, there hasn’t been any looking back for the gorgeous mother of three. She now also owns an exquisite interiors store called ‘The Design Cell’ in Mumbai which we believe is for the crème-de-la-crème of the city.
Fashion IndustryThe lady entrepreneur set her foot in the fashion world last year as the ace designer studio- Satya Paul turned 30. And to commemorate this occasion the fashion house collaborated with the fashionable Gauri Khan for a special anniversary collection launched with the label's Spring/Summer 2015 line, retailing from Satya Paul flaships. Titled ‘Tropical Wonder’ the collection was inspired by the idea of an exotic holiday. "My signature line of clothing for Satya Paul will showcase a distinctive aspect of my own personal style," says Khan. "Co-creating and endorsing a line for one of India's finest brands will be a new experience for me."
The collection was targeted for the young Indian woman and was an absolute success.
Real EstateSuzanne Khan and Gauri Khan are not only good friends but have also collaborated on a professional level. As mentioned above, the duo has worked on several interior designing projects together. They have taken their friendship a step ahead by becoming business partners in a real estate venture- Naira. This will be a luxurious mansion project that includes 12 plush villas. A party was hosted by Suzanne and Gauri in Dubai at a common friend’s house marking the launch of Naira. It is not yet clear if the leading ladies will be supervising the project in person but are definitely the face of the project.
Co-founder of Red-Chillies
Co-founding Red Chillies Entertainment with her husband was just another feather added to Gauri’s entrepreneurial hat. Launched in 2002, she has produced eight films to date. Most of them have made their mark at the box office like Ra One, Main Hoon Naa, Chennai Express. The lady who has always maintained a distance from the media shared her views about this saying, “I wasn't doing any work earlier. There was no point me coming out and talking about my husband or my children. It is not that I am media shy. I am definitely not. I do not believe in talking anything about my personal life or my family. I would strictly like to keep that rivate. I get to speak about my work and passion which I find extremely exciting."
Apart from her own business projects, Gauri has also been the face of several high-end brands. It goes unsaid that the lady has the personality of a celebrity now and has several fans of her own which is why many brands are ready to sign her as their brand ambassador.Today as the beautiful lady turns a year older let’s not relegate her to be in the shadow of her superstar husband but instead recognize her for her own achievements. Wish you a very happy birthday Gauri Khan.
