Jim Parsons has been among us for a grand total of 43 years now. (No, this is not a Bazinga) And he has dedicated almost a decade in playing the role of a man who will be remembered for generations to come. But Jim Parson is more than just Sheldon Cooper. (and he does not miss a single opportunity to remind us of the fact). No, Jim Parsons doesn’t bear any ill feelings for the character, but he would like to be called Jim instead of Sheldon by his fans. On his birthday, we are going to share five things you might like to know about this great guy.
The acting bug bit him at the age of 6 when he played the Koko-kolo bird in a school production of Rudyard Kipling’s The Elephant’s Child. Since then he was determined to be an actor. His debut on television was in the TV series Ed in 2002, in which he was there only for one episode. He was first noticed in the TV series Judging Amy, in which he had a recurring role.
His Other Works
Apart from TV, he has worked in movies too, the latest being the 2015 movie Visions. He also had a cameo in the 2011 movie The Muppets. Also, Jim Parsons is an established singer and has worked in a number of off-Broadway productions.
He is really not a Geek
Jim Parsons has confessed on multiple occasions that he is not a geek like Sheldon Cooper and he hasn’t really read or seen Star Trek (Sheldon is a huge fan of the series and comics). He also says that on multiple occasions he has had to research about the characters or the plot points he talks about. (But that, doesn’t make him any less awesome!)
His has been a Long Journey to Success
Jim Parsons appeared in 15 failed TV pilots before he got his big break with The Big Bang Theory. He is also a very accomplished pianist.
His High School Achievements
He has worked in a number of high school productions of plays and was voted the friendliest in his graduating class. (This just shows that he deserves all the 4 Emmys he has won and many more).
We would like to wish Jim Parsons a very Happy Birthday and hope to see many more avatars of this amazing actor, in the days to come.
