"Hello, mic testing 123, hello… Awaaz aa rahi hai aap logon ko?"
For those who aren’t aware of this dialogue; Shahid Kapoor stunned the nation with this brilliant piece of monologue in his last release, Haider. So much that, he is swept away all the major awards this season. Sasha, as he is fondly known by his fans, has wonderfully evolved as an actor. Gone are the college boy days, where he would strut around with his babyish face in his films. Today, we can definitely put our foot down about the fact that he is, indeed, a super-talented actor.
Since Shahid was introduced to the camera at an early age, we decided to revisit his ‘before stardom’ years on the occasion of his birthday!
Shahid was born in Delhi and is the son of veteran actor, Pankaj Kapur, and Neelima Azeem. After his parents separated, the effervescent actor continued to live in Delhi only to relocate to Mumbai. Here are some super cute and adorable pictures of li’l Sasha.
‘I am a Complan Boy!’ Yes, the little boy running to his mother with a cup is none other than Shahid Kapoor. I’m sure many of you have seen this video, but we still can’t get over how natural he was in front of the camera!
Pepsi advertisement with Shahrukh, Kajol and Rani
Remember the Pepsi slogan, ‘Yeh Dil Mange More’! Here’s a teenage Shahid dancing in the Pepsi commercial of 1998, with the superhit trio of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerjee.
First music video – Aankhon Mein
Aryans’ romantic music video featured Shahid as a young lover boy who sets out to pursue his first love. The song was a hit in the ’90s and was a regular on all music channels. Who knew that in near future, this young lad would become a Bollywood star? #NotComplaining
One of the many reasons why Shahid gained instant success in the industry was his exceptional dancing prowess. A student of Shiamak Davar’s dance institute, the training helped him improvise his dancing skills. Moreover, he also won the opportunity to appear in his first movie song! Here’s a glimpse of Shahid in the song ‘Aag Lage Lag Jaye‘ (Taal).
Finally, his first film, Ishq Vishk
Shahid got his break in the Hindi film industry with Ken Ghosh’s Ishq Vishk. He once told a daily newspaper that he went out and helped workers put up posters of his first release to overcome nervousness. Awww… However, the film was a superhit that also earned him a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award!
Post his debut, there was no looking back for Shahid Kapoor. And with the actor celebrating his 33rd birthday today, we wish him a wonderful 2015. Happy birthday Sasha!
