Hasee Toh Phasee Bloopers

For ages we have been mesmerized by Bollywood’s quintessential love birds, of the likes of Raj and Simran. When they met, we fell in love with them and yes, after they met love was never the same for us. We began to dream of a lover, of a soulmate who’d be with us forever. We began to search for that someone who was somewhere and was made for us. We began to fall in love with the idea of love. But this was way back in the ’90s when we were still growing out of our milk-teeth phase. With the changing times, tastes changed. The taglines of these films seemed heart-warming and soul-soothing, but there was something amiss. These films gained immortal importance in our life but left a void, and a need for a hatke entertainment arose. And then, they came along – a mental girl and a senti boy – a heady concoction, add to that their over-the-top sentimental families in a film that will make love go Cucking Frazy!

With ample positive responses that the trailer is receiving, the Hasee Toh Phasee stars seem to be on cloud Nine. We see the two leads moving out of their comfort zone to essay a journey of two distinct individuals. Parineeti Chopra has come a long way, from becoming the dashing Juliet, Zoya (Ishaqzaade) to being a sprightly, mental, scientist tomboy, Meeta. While Sidharth, has shed his ambitious cloak of Abhimanyu Singh (Student Of The Year) and put on the garb of sense and sensibility with this second outing as Nikhil. With the most-organic, quirky, off-the-cuff yet moving storyline, the film is deemed to be an unconventional love story on many levels. The maverick well-known for his Cadbury ad campaigns that garnered him applause and fame amongst the fellow filmmakers of B-town, Vinil Mathew, makes his Bollywood debut with Hasee Toh Phasee.

While the trailer tickles your funny bone, we plod to find the film’s bloopers that have been doing the rounds of the industry.

No Kissing, No Touching
Even before the filmmakers give the film full-fledged promotions, we hear that they plan to scrap the steamy kiss which we see in the trailer. The reason being – they don’t wish the love to sizzle and boil down the essence of being a ‘simple love story’. Irony? The leads have no qualms about kissing each other, albeit, for the film’s sake.

What’s in a Name
Further, it is heard that filmmakers chose the name for the film only because it is a ‘cool, quirky expression’ which has a certain ring around it and goes well with the spirit of the film. What’s in a name, said Shakespeare, but we hope there’s much more to the film that will keep us glued to our seat.

No Romance and No Comedy
Inspite of falling under the family of rom-com, the five filmmakers (who have produced the film) differ, saying that it is more to do with the journey of the two characters, it is a coming-of-age film. A film about families, the quirky characters, about the development of two leads in the “environment that is emotional and warm.” That leaves us confused. So, it is not a rom-com, or is it?

Love being artificial
During the trailer launch of the film, the gifted auteur Karan Johar said that he has lost the innocence he had during the making of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Naa Ho. Drafting love scenes, now, is more artificial and synthetic for him. That answers our question why KANK was not as well-received as the other films by the director.

Gandi Baat
KJo further justified the tagline for the film saying that “Seedi baat ko thoda Gandi baat banana padh jaata hai!” We hear that one of the producers of the film came up with this ‘quirky’ name and tagline for the film while he was fighting with his wife. We assume the fight was followed with manaoing and that’s how #cuckingfrazy their love went.

Judaai Judaai
We also hear that the director conducted workshops for the actors before the film went on floors. The director, apparently wanted a level of discomfort to brew between Parineeti and Sidharth which is why he did not allow the two to meet.

A remake, maybe?
The year 1993 saw Jackie Shroff and Juhi Chawla doing a YRF-produced family entertainer which also starred yesteryear actress, Amrita Singh. Aaina was a story of a man who loves a girl but since she leaves him for her ambitions, he is forced to marry her sister. With Adah Sharma playing Parineeti’s elder sister, Sidharth is a match chosen for Adah but love subsequently brews between Sidharth and Parineeti, the film looks to be a remake of Aaina. May be it is or may be not!

These being only a few bloopers, all we can say is that picture abhi baaki hai mere dost!
