We have time and again witnessed how Bollywood filmmakers are fascinated about narrating stories of the Mumbai mafia. Even the audience shows its enthusiasm for such movies as it shows the dark side of the city of dreams. Often, these films meet criticism as some sections of the society don't believe in glorifying the gangsters and the crimes they do. But, let’s accept it, these films stand out in terms of entertainment quotient. Classic gangster films like Vaastav, Company, Satya, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and D-Day are testimonies to this.
And, Haseena Parkar is the most unique film among the lot. This will be the first time that the audience will witness the saga of the Mumbai mafia through a woman’s perspective. Haseena, played by Shraddha Kapoor, was the daughter of a Mumbai Police Constable and sister of Dawood Ibrahim (interestingly the role of Dawood is played by Shraddha’s brother Siddhanth Kapoor). As most of us know, Dawood is the head of the crime syndicate D-Company and is still the most wanted criminal by the Mumbai Police and Interpol.
The film is considered to be the riskiest film of Shraddha’s career. To play a biographical film convincingly, she has undergone a lot of preparation. The hardest was perhaps the physical transformation for which she gained 9 kilos. Ankur Bhatia plays the role of Haseena’s husband, Ismail Parkar. The trailer looks very promising and has garnered appreciation from all corners.
There are only two songs in the movie. Tere Bina, sung by Arijit Singh and Priya Saraiya, shows the romance between Haseena and Ismail; while Bantai shows the success celebration of Dawood and his gang. With so much to look forward to, we can’t hold our excitement and are eager to meet Haseena on 22nd September. Stay tuned to the BookMyShow Blog for all updates and our review as well. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer here and let us know your thoughts on the same.
