7 Reasons Hermione Is The Real Hero Of Harry Potter

Every character in the Harry Potter series, other than Harry Potter himself, is underrated. Even his two best friends, who are the biggest characters after him, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, are not given as much credit as Harry himself. Ron knows this, which is the reason for his jealousy. Hermione understands this too but does not let jealousy get in the way of friendship. She is smart, modest, ever-helpful, and the genius every hero should be. Every time Harry achieved something, Hermione always had his back. Today is our hero Hermione Granger’s 37th birthday. Here’s why we feel she is the real genius of the Harry Potter series:

The Underappreciated Genius
While the movies left this part out, book lovers will remember that in the Philosopher's Stone, before Harry faced Quirrell, he had to overcome another hurdle – one that required intelligence. Set by Severus Snape, the chamber held seven bottles containing different liquids, only one of which could take the drinker ahead. The answer to finding the correct bottle lay in a riddle. Now who do you think could have solved that? Without Hermione, Harry would never have all the credit for destroying Quirrell.

The Behind-the-Scenes Genius
In the Chamber of Secrets, Hermione brewed the Polyjuice Potion, which is really advanced for a 12-year-old. The potion helped Harry and Ron enter the Slytherin Common Room and find out more about the Slytherin monster. Secondly, she was the one who realized who the real monster in the Chamber was. Without that knowledge, Harry wouldn’t know how to get into the Chamber or beat Tom Riddle

High-flying Genius
In the Prizoner of Azkaban, Harry thought all was lost when Peter Pettigrew escaped and Sirius was going back to Azkaban. But handy Hermione was not having any of it. She whipped out her Time-Turner, went back in time with Harry, and fixed everything. She owned the Time-Turner in the first place because she was taking way more classes than any average student.

Multi-tasking Genius
Hermione was always around to help her friends in the best way she could – through knowledge. In the Goblet of Fire, she helped Harry practice for his tasks in the Triwizard Tournament, even though he was supposed to work on them alone. Even with all her extra classes, exams (which Harry was exempted from), and helping Harry, she still found time to start SPEW (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare).

Pro-active Genius
You have to admit it – the best part about the Order of Phoenix is how the students get together to revolt against the autocratic Professor Umbridge. One of the first steps was organizing the DA (Dumbledore’s Army), where Harry taught a bunch of students some pretty useful spells and jinxes. The idea of starting the DA came from Hermione. She was also a part of the gang that fought the Death Eaters at the Ministry of Magic.

Far-sighted Genius
Harry never learned from his mistakes. In the Half-Blood Prince, when he found the Prince’s Potions book, he should have ideally returned it to Professor Slughorn because it contained some dangerous spells. But Harry was full of it. Hermione warned him about the book, but did Harry listen? He ended up using one of the spells on Malfoy and regretted it later on. Hermione was the only one who saw this coming.

Indomitable Genius
Not many survived torture at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange. Frank and Alice Longbottom were driven to insanity forever. In the Deathly Hallows, Hermione not only continued getting tortured, she bravely withheld important information from her too. She even had the courage to enter Bellatrix’s Gringotts vault in disguise to steal a Horcrux.
