A remake of Subhash Ghai’s superhit romantic drama of the ’80s, Hero (2015) featuring star kids, Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, is all set for a grand release next week. We can only hope the two new faces do justice to what we remember of Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri’s brilliant chemistry from the original. Also with Salman Khan introducing the actors and making his production debut as well, one can  definitely say there is something good in store. And then there’s Nikhil Advani, the man behind superhits like Kal Ho Na Ho and D-Day in the director’s chair. Yes, with such credible names, Hero definitely seems promising to us.

A week away from release, it’s time for a quick look into the Hero timeline! Here you go.

Remake Announced:
On May 2013, veteran director Subhash Ghai announced the modern-day remake of the classic 1983 film. This was followed by Nikhil Advani being roped in to direct the project on August 6th, 2013.

The Unfortunate Controversy:
Before the film could hit the floor, actor Sooraj Pancholi caught the media’s attention for his connection with Jiah Khan. The actress who committed suicide in June, 2013 was dating the young star. Though the wave of rage receded, Sooraj was in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Salman’s Main Hoon Hero Tera:
Now that the first look and trailer were both out, the next thing we  wanted was to check out Salman Khan singing the title track. On August 7th, 2015, the song was released and his fans hit the berzerk mode. No doubt the song topped the music charts within hours.

Karan Johar Connection:
One of the songs, Yadaan Teriyaan was originally written for a Karan Johar movie. However, the director recommended the song to Salman for Hero. Check out the song here:

Baadshah Tweets:
While Salman was busy promoting Hero and singing for the film, Shah Rukh Khan decided to send in his best wishes through a tweet. Check it out below:

The hatchets have been buried, yes.

Looks like Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty are two lucky stars. From the Khans to Johar; they are all lending support for their debut film. We won’t be very surprised if the movie turns out to rule the box office quite like the original Hero.

Here’s wishing the cast and crew, all the very best!
