The concept of family is very strange. A bunch of people who are related live together and yet, each one is on their own journey. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who is making his Bollywood debut as a director, is coming with a tale about one such family in Hope Aur Hum. The Srivastavas are your normal middle-class family, who sit down for dinner together and talk about their day. The patriarch of the family is played by Naseeruddin Shah, who owns a photocopy store with a machine we might never have seen before. He has two sons – Neeraj (Aamir Bashir), who is married to Aditi (Sonali Kulkarni), and Nitin (Naveen Kasturia), who is single.
From the trailer, we see that the movie is about the individual journey of these men of different generations as they try to overcome their fears and keep up with the rapidly changing times. The movie seems rich in content and can be compared to the likes of Hindi Medium and Nil Battey Sannata in terms of infusing the right amount of humor.
Sonali Kulkarni seems to be the voice of reason and the glue that holds this family along with Aamir Bashir, Naveen Kasturia, Kabir Sajid, Virti Vaghani. Naseeruddin Shah's banter with his copy machine is also very humorous. If you haven't watched the trailer yet, watch it here right now. Stay tuned to our blog for the review of the movie.
