The Housefull series is back for a third round and it looks promising. The previous two movies, which released in 2010 and 2012, respectively had packed a fair share of laughs. This time the makers have retained the original cast (Boman Irani, Akshay Kumar,Jacqueline Fernandes and Riteish Deshmukh) and brought on board Abhishek Bachchan, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon and Jackie Shroff. Abhishek’s chemistry with Riteish is a tried-and-tested one (remember Bluffmaster) and so is the one between Akshay and Riteish. Watching the trio on screen should be interesting. The trailer released yesterday and we have compiled a list of what we think worked and what didn’t for us.
A Grand House
The first thing you require for a Housefull movie is a grand house where there is a lot of room for a grander confusion to pan out. The filmmakers have not disappointed us there with the mansion that you can see in the trailer.
Boman Irani as father of three daughters
Boman Irani is undoubtedly an excellent actor and his comic timing is flawless. His rose to popularity much later in life but he has used it to his advantage. You have seen him numerous times as the father of the daughter in movies like Munnabhai M.B.B.S., 3 Idiots and the previous installments of this series. The return of Batuk Patel is something we look forward to.
The Daughter’s Accents
Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri and Jacqueline Fernandes have often been criticized for their accents. The filmmakers have used these accents to their advantage. The film being based in London and the actresses with their accents make for an interesting combination.
A scene in the trailer suggests Sunny (Akshay Kumar) suffers from split-personality disorder. Although the same in the eventual plot might be uproarious, we were not impressed by it at first glance.
The bit of a glimpse we are offered of the film’s music is perhaps not the best way to judge it. However, it doesn’t seem like a chartbuster yet.
If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, catch it here and let us know your thoughts.
