My personal life goes for a toss, admits Chitrangada
Camouflaged in her vanity van, the dusky damsel Chitrangada Singh is in a tizzy constantly instructing her hair dresser to fix her curls and retouch her make-up. Gearing up for her next shoot, the actress gets candid with us on her upcoming film, her personal life and her dream role.
Excerpts from our conversation:
Q. Tell us something about your character in the film “Yeh Saali Zindagi”.
In “Yeh Saali Zindagi”, I am playing Preeti who is central to all the problems and drama that takes place throughout the film. I can say her life is nothing less than a roller-coaster ride. She is both weak and strong and remains tensed and afraid for most part of the film. She is in love with the future son-in-law of a powerful minister. However, she lands up at the wrong place at the wrong time and this forms the shattering climax of the film
Q. Why did you choose this film?
My character was the main reason why I chose to be a part of the film. I loved my character when I read the script. Moreover, the director of the film being Sudhir Mishra, I was confident that the film will turn out good.
Q. How was the experience of shooting for this film?
Overall, everything was pretty smooth. When it comes to sticking to schedules, Sudhir makes sure we go through complete hell. (Laughs)
Q. What kind of response are you expecting from the audience?
The entire film is shot on location. The feel of North India is raw and very well brought out in the film. The youth can identify with the film.
Q. How do you strike a balance between your professional and personal life? Does your personal life go for a toss?
Yes, my personal life does go for a toss. But I try and adjust the shoot timings such that I can spend some time with my family. My profession is not a 9 to 5 job and hence things are flexible.
Q. Who’s been your inspiration in the industry?
I cannot name one person in particular. Different people have been my inspiration for different reasons. Bachchan Ji has always been my inspiration for having such a long and successful career in Bollywood. Similarly, I can never forget Shabana Ji for an elongated shelf life. She has been doing great work.
Q. Describe your dream role.
I would love to play a period character. Someone like a tavayaf. Rekha Ji’s role in Umrao Jaan could be an apt example. My dream role is one that keeps me interested in the film and something I can play with, a little more.
Q. A message for our Bookmyshow audience.
