India vs WI series review

Team India will be celebrating the thanksgiving weekend by giving special thanks to the BCCI for repairing their broken souls. After a torrid few years overseas, the BCCI scheduled 2013 in a way that would restore confidence and ability to a new young team- still fractured after losing half their body weight in England, Australia and even at Home. Playing back-to-back home series tournaments this year has proven to be the glue that has propelled a fearless new team into the limelight- after they even dared to go abroad and win major ODI tournaments.

After their first series bilateral win over Australia in 27 years at home, India were expected to destroy the weak Windies test team and steamroll their inconsistent ODI team.
That is exactly what happened. Everything went according to script- and after splitting the first two ODIs, thanks to some much needed inspiration from Sammy, the third ODI was one-way traffic once again.
This time, it was Shikhar Dhawan– the first of the magnificent threesome at the top- and he hit back from a relatively lean patch by smashing his 6th international century of the year. India chased down 265 with ease after Rohit and Kohli failed for once, but it was Dhawan’s night.
Incidentally, before Dhawan’s test debut at Mohali this year, he had never scored an international century. Now he has 6- all in 2013- 5 ODI centuries and 1 test century- the first batsman this year to manage the feat. 2013 has belonged to Rohit and Dhawan, and of course, Virat as usual.
As poor as their bowlers have been, these 3 have even made up for their struggling middle order of Yuvraj and Raina- who both came good in the series decider.
Dhawan slammed his century of 73 balls- a stunning assault on everyone but Narine. His only issue is his tendency to lose concentration after reaching 3 figures- but with the likes of Dhoni to follow, finishing wasn’t a problem.
With this 2-1 win against WI, India for the second time won their 6th consecutive series on home soil- a feat only managed once before in 2008-09. Except for that major blip against Cook and co. last year, India have risen from the Ashes, now thumping their chests before the much-awaited series in South Africa. With the Proteas blowing hot and cold against Pakistan, India will fancy their chances- but this new look team has been untested in whites in alien conditions.
With the no. 1 ODI batsman, the no. 1 ODI bowler in their side, and with SA having the no. 1 test batsman and bowler in their side- December is expected to be a competitive month for Indian cricket- a series many fans have been nervously looking forward to for months.
