Indian PM Narendra Modi made it to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London alongside prominent world leaders. Back in India, twitter erupted, going bonkers with captions, and even asking if "one of them could now stay back in India?" Although the statue isn’t exactly like Modi, it is a great job.
Amidst all the hoopla over the statue, we’d like to remind you that the first Indian to be honored with a statue was Mahatma Gandhi. And the first Bollywood star was Amitabh Bachchan. There are seven other Indian celebrities who’ve already had the honor of being waxed. Let’s take a look.
The first one, and rightly so. Bachchan’s popularity earned him a spot at the popular London museum. The statue is good, but, we like the man better.
King Khan is loved by the NRIs, and so a wax statue in London should not come as a shock. Recently, the statue got a makeover for Fan and was made to look like his fan character Gaurav.
Salman was voted at the 7th handsome man all over the world in 2007, and got his statue in 2008. The statue is now in the New York museum.
The ‘dhak dhak’ girl’s statue has her in a saree and the million-dollar smile has been replicated really well. It was placed in 2012.
The first Bollywood actress to have her statue in the museum in 2004. Alas! Even Madame Tussauds could not do justice to her beauty.
Hrithik’s statue is in his Dhoom 2 pose. Not as sexy as the man himself, but the statue does have a striking resemblance.
Her ‘Chammak Challo’ pose was chosen, but the statue has Kareena in her Jab We Met look. She got her statue in 2011.
The most recent of this lot, Katrina’s statue was unveiled in 2015. She’s called Asia’s sexiest woman, and deserved her spot. Although the statue doesn’t do her justice.
So, what are your thoughts on these statues?
