American President Donald Trump passed an executive order last week that shocked the world. The order has barred people from six countries from entering the US for the next 90 days in order to protect Americans from terrorism. A move that has caused quite a stir all over the globe and received much backlash. Several people have been affected by this, one of them being Iranian film director Asghar Farhadi who was set for travel to the US next month. His film, The Salesman, is an Iranian film that has been nominated in the Best Foreign Film Category at this year's Academy Awards.
Farhadi has earlier won an Oscar for his film A Separation and this is truly an example of how several innocent individuals have been affected by this unfortunate ban. The director has refused to attend the functions even if the ban were to be lifted for him as a sign of protest. In the past few months, we have seen several Hollywood celebrities use award ceremonies as a platform to raise their voices against the newly elected American President and his policies
