Ramsay Bolton will go down in TV history as one of the worst villains to ever disgrace the screen. He was despicable, ruthless, and the whole world celebrated when he died a brutal death. Hate the character but don’t hate the guy. Iwan Rheon, who plays the character of Ramsay on Game of Thrones, is actually a pretty cool guy. While playing a villain seems to suit him, he has actually played the nice guy on more than one occasion. In fact, he is usually cast in a positive role. And he plays that just as brilliantly as the negative character.
It’s Iwan Rheon’s birthday today and we are going to tell you why he does not deserve all the hate he gets. If you only saw him on these TV shows, you’ll understand:
As the name suggests, this show is about five young offenders, who are working in a community service program. A bunch of regular kids, their lives are turned upside down when they suddenly get superpowers. It’s now up to them to use their powers for good or for the evil. Rheon plays one of these characters – starting off as the underdog, till he eventually becomes the hero of the group. All the five seasons of the show are available on Hulu. Watch the trailer here:
This British sitcom stars Ian McKellen (better known as Magneto or Gandalf) and Derek Jacobi in lead roles. An elderly gay couple, McKellen and Jacobi’s love-hate relationship is what makes this show entertaining. Rheon comes in as their neighbor, who eventually becomes good friends with the couple. He is especially close to McKellen’s character, who becomes a father figure for him. Check out this hilarious clip, where McKellen’s character is auditioning for Downton Abbey:
Fantasy, sci-fi, comedy, drama – Rheon has done them all. In this BBC One show, he plays an officer in the Army. His character is lively, funny, and pleasant, unlike Ramsay Bolton. He is a part of the main cast and shares a romantic/friendly relationship with the lead character of the show – a woman who leaves her job at the nail bar to become a soldier for the British Army Medical Corps. Rheon only stars in the first season of the show. Watch its trailer here:
Happy birthday, Iwan Rheon. Forgive us, but we just love to hate you!
