Jab They Met: Best Bollywood-Cricket Jodis

The two things that can stop this nation and its people are undoubtedly cricket and Bollywood. So when the two come together, how can we not love it more? When a sizzling Bollywood diva starts dating a dashing cricketer, it almost always manages to catch the nation’s fancy and make bold, first page headlines.

The recent shaadi of Harbhajan ‘The Turbanator’ Singh and the lovely Geeta Basra has once again sent the media into a frenzy along with our desi junta. There have been several other actress-cricketer jodis in the past. Let’s take a look at few such pairs that could give this out-of-place winter heat some stiff competition.

Tiger Pataudi – Sharmila Tagore
They met through a common friend in Delhi and the rest as they say is royal history. The couple got married in 1969 after four years of courtship.
Imran Khan – Zeenat Aman
They met in the 60s or 70s and sparks flew. But sadly the romance was short-lived and both went on to marry other people.
Vivian Richards – Neena Gupta
Vivian Richards and Neena Gupta dated. Neena got pregnant with the cricketer’s child. Instead of bowing down to the log kya kahenge talk, the actress went ahead and gave birth and raised the now famous fashion designer Masaba Gupta
Mohammed Azharuddin – Sangeeta Bijlani
Theirs was an extra-marital affair, when the soft spoken Hyderabadi cricketer fell for the glamorous Bijlani. They married in 1996, but separated in 2010.
Yuvraj Singh – Kim Sharma
Yuvi and Kim were a hot couple back in the day. Sadly, the story went awry and ended after four years.
MS Dhoni – Deepika Padukone – Yuvraj Singh
Ms. Padukone was linked to both cricketers. But they have all moved on since then..
Isha Sharvani – Zaheer Khan
There were rumours of marriage, but the relationship ended and the two parted ways in 2012.
Anushka Sharma – Virat Kohli
This hot couple faces the media glare hand-in-hand. He watches her films and she goes to his matches to show her support, and the junta approves. (Well, mostly!)
