Jawaan: Film Review – For His Country & Family

Verdict: Sai Dharam Tej is back in track with a bang.

In a span of just over two months, Mehreen Pirzada is having her fourth release with Jawaan after Mahanubhavudu, Raja The Great and C/O Surya. For the first time, she is paired with Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej. Well known writer B.V.S.Ravi wielded the megaphone for the second time after an unsuccessful debut as director with Wanted, five years back. Produced by Krishna under Arunachal Creations, Dil Raju stepped in between the project and this movie was finally presented by him. Theatrical trailers have revealed the main theme of the story where Sai Dharam Tej is seen on a mission to save the country from baddies who are trying to get their hands on the missiles. Sai Dharam Tej is going through the leanest phase in his career with his recent movies not doing well at box office. Even B.V.S.Ravi is yet to prove his mettle as a director. Let’s see if Jawaan is the movie that brings both these careers in track.

What’s It About:

Jai (Sai Dharam Tej) and Prasanna (Keshav) are childhood friends who choose two different paths to travel in life. While Jai grows up joining RSS and becoming a responsible citizen, he aspires to be a scientist at DRDO. Prasanna leads an anti-nationalist group trying to get his hands on a mission called Octopus. Jai gets embroiled when Keshav plans to threat and kidnap his family. What Jai does to save his family from the villain gang and how he thwarted the evil intentions of Keshav forms the rest of the story.

Jawaan - BookMyShow

What Works:

Sai Dharam Tej is full of energy in Jawaan and has given his career best performance till date. He excelled in emoting the dialogues and was fantastic in dance and fight sequences. Mehreen Pirzada is going through the golden phase in her career with many of her movies turning to be super hits. In Jawaan, she was ultra-glamorous and gave a nice performance. Prasanna did a fabulous job as the main antagonist and the whole movie revolves around his character. Rest of the cast were apt in the roles they portrayed. Background score poured soul to the movie and was terrific while cinematography is equally good. Editing is neat and production values are grand.

What Could Have Been Better:

While the director did an excellent job in handling the subject, the placement of songs seemed to be a speed breaker. Apart from this, it is a smooth ride.

Why You Should Watch:

No reason for Mega fans to skip this movie. It will be an absolutely feast for them. The rest of the audience can watch Jawaan for its patriotic feel blended with good emotions and nice entertainment. Go for it and you will not be disappointed.
