Verdict: Boyapati continues his success streak.
Jaya Janaki Nayaka, starring Bellamkonda Srinivas and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles, is directed by successful director Boyapati Srinu and produced by M.Ravinder Reddy. It also has Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Sarath Kumar, Tarun Arora and Chalapathi Rao. Catherine Teresa will be seen in a special appearance. This is Bellamkonda Srinivas' third movie and he is teaming up with Rakul Preet Singh and Boyapati Srinu for the first time. Jaya Janaki Nayaka has music by Devi Sri Prasad and Rishi Punjabi has handled the camera work. With a run time of 149 minutes, let’s see if Jaya Janaki Nayaka reached the audience expectations.
Chakravarthy (Sarath Kumar) is an industrialist and has two sons, Gagan (Bellamkonda Srinivas) and Nandu. The father and sons are more like friends, they have drinks together and getting into petty brawls. Gagan rescues Sweety (Rakul Preet Singh) in the college from a villain gang and Sweety gets to know about Gagan and family. Sweety starts liking Gagan and slowly starts changing their habits of getting drunk and fighting. Gagan also starts liking Sweety. Sweety’s father is a Chief of National Highways Authority who hands over a highway project to Ashwadh Narayana Varma (Jagapathi Babu) and marries off her daughter Sweety to Varma’s Son. In the meanwhile, a liquor don Arun Pawar (Tarun Arora) wants to kill the officer and others involved in the highway bid as he is not offered the project. You'll have to watch the movie to see what happens next.
Bellamkonda Srinivas has given a very matured performance in his third movie. Gifted with height and with his muscles and a toned body, he seems apt for the lead role. Rakul Preet Singh is beautiful and has done her role with ease and perfection. Pragya Jaiswal is good as Falguni in a short and sweet role. It was good to see Vani Vishwanath after a long time as Jagapathi Baby's sister.
Like all his earlier movies, Boyapati has made sure that there are strong family emotions intertwined with solid action episodes. Jaya Janaki Nayaka is another feather in his cap and will enter the list of his super hit movies. Rishi Punjabi’s cinematography and Devi Sri Prasad’s music and background score were terrific and has helped Jaya Janaki Nayaka evolve as a perfect commercial pot boiler. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is good. Production values are grand.
