Verdict: A film with a relevant message.
Jayadev starring Ganta Ravi and Malvika Raj in lead roles is directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee. Ganta Ravi and Malvika Raj are making their debut with Jayadev in Telugu. Ganta Ravi is the son of the famous politician and sitting M.L.A Ganta Srinivas. Malvika Raj has made her debut as a child artiste in Kabhie Kushi Kabhie Gham as the young Kareena Kapoor. Jayanth C. Paranjee has last directed Teenmar in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan that released in 2011. In between he directed a Kannada movie Ninnindale with Puneeth Rajkumar. It took almost six years for Jayanth to come back with a Telugu movie. Jayadev is a remake of Tamil super hit movie Sethupathi but a lot of changes have been made to suit the Telugu audience. Let’s see how the product shaped up.
G. Jayadev (Ganta Ravi) is a sincere cop who takes on the anti-social elements in his own style. He is soon going to be promoted as Assistant Commissioner of Police. In the meanwhile, he takes up the case of a murdered police officer who was burnt alive. Jayadev realizes the atrocities committed by Vinod Kumar and how he brings down all the culprits to law forms the rest of the story.
Ganta Ravi has succeeded in bringing out emotions and looks great in the role of a cop. However, there is a huge scope for improvement in displaying other emotions. Malvika Raj is beautiful and suited the role well as Jayadev’s love interest. Venella Kishore is on a roll nowadays with good comedy characters coming his way. Even in Jayadev, he was able to bring the much-needed comic relief in an otherwise serious movie. It is also nice to see Vinod Kumar after a long time and playing the role of the main antagonist. All the confrontation scenes between Ravi and Vinod worked well for the movie. Posani Krishna Murali as Jayadev's superior enacted his role to the best of his capabilities. The rest of the characters were apt in their roles.
Jayant C Paranjee's direction is good and should be appreciated for making the relevant changes to suit the Telugu audience. Hopefully, this would be his comeback movie. The background score and music by Mani Sharma is decent. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is crisp and the run time of just two hours is an added advantage. The Paruchuri brothers have done the dialogues and are very good.
Why You Should Watch This Movie:
You can watch this movie for the maker’s sincere efforts to bring the good side of police and their hard work. Overall, a decent one time watch.
