While Ranbir Kapoor gave this a miss, Karan Johar was joined by his heroines – Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – for this chat. There were no questions about the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena controversy but the good news was that the political party had decided to call off their ban on the movie. Karan Johar claimed that it took him just nine days to write the film. He wrote it while his was holidaying in New York. The director spoke about how he didn't want Anushka Sharma to be cast in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. He even joked that casting her in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was a way of avoiding bad karma.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stated that her role in the film is impactful even though it is a small one. The actress was approached for five of Karan’s previous films but for some reason, they never ended up working together. Johar was teased for not making films on middle-class people. His defense was that though Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is shot in foreign locales and is made on a lavish budget, the audience will be able to relate to its characters – Ayaan (Ranbir Kapoor), Alizeh (Anushka Sharma), and Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan).
