Varun Dhawan may be busy promoting his upcoming film, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, with his co-star Alia Bhatt but amidst that, he has to shoot for Judwaa 2. The film that can be considered a remake instead of a sequel to Judwaa will have Varun play a double role. He is replacing Salman Khan and the movie is directed by none other than his father David Dhawan. David, in fact, helmed the original film too. And Sajid Nadiadwala, who produced the Judwaa, is financing the Judwaa remake. So, the makers got very nostalgic on the first day of the shoot. Currently, a song from the film is being shot at a studio in Goregaon.
Salman Khan, who played the lead in Judwaa, sent a carton filled with pairs of jeans to Varun. It was a gesture that he claimed would help Dhawan feel the part of a tapori. Karisma Kapoor and Rambha were the lead actresses in the first part, and now, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu have replaced them in Judwaa 2. Tapsee Pannu, of Pink fame, made her Bollywood debut with David Dhawan's Chashme Baddoor and is excited to work with him again. Varun and Jacqueline, too, will look to recreate their chemistry from last year’s Dishoom. Also, there's good news for fans of the 1997 film. Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor will have special appearances in Judwaa 2. It couldn't get better than that, right?
The release date of Judwaa 2 is September 29, 2017, and just like the original, the two main characters will be called Raj and Prem. Since the film is releasing this year, it will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule. While Taapsee Pannu is shooting for the climax of Naam Shabana, she is expected to join the crew soon. Jacqueline Fernandez, on the other hand, has just wrapped up Reload and will shift focus to Judwaa 2.
So will Varun Dhawan's live up to everyone’s expectations? Will Judwaa 2 be as big a blockbuster as Judwaa? Well, we’ll have to wait and find out. Till then, check this space for more news and updates about the movie, its trailer, songs, and review.
