Verdict- A failed attempt at portraying a passionate love story.
After the hyped controversy regarding Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat post their first movie, Sanam Re, the duo has collaborated with each other yet again for the film Junooniyat and their chemistry is sure to be loved by all!
Written and directed by the famous Vivek Agnihotri who recently helmed Buddha in a Traffic Jam, Junooniyat is a mundane love story between the simple Suhaani (Yami Gautam) and Army Captain Jahaan Bakshi (Pulkit Samrat).
Swimming Champion Suhaani Kapoor, who is the heart and soul of her family is out with her friends camping in the Himalayas, when she decides to take a dip in the sea and enters the restricted area. In a very dramatic way, she is rescued by the attractive looking army officer Jahaan, who falls hopelessly in love with her but with Suhaani returning home, there is little he can do. He comes looking for his Amritsari beauty, where one meeting leads to the other and before you know, their love story begins. There’s music, there’s magic and love is in the air until Suhaani’s family finds out about her secret love affair with Jahaan. Mr. Kapoor, who has already lost two brothers and one son in the army refuses to accept Jahaan as his son-in-law if he continues serving the army. Stuck between the only two things he loves, Jahaan finally decides to leave Suhaani and continue his work only to realize later what a huge mistake he has committed. He finds himself in a deeper mess, when he sees the love of his life getting married to someone else.
Although the story by itself may not be as promising and the script is not something we haven’t seen before, the music along with the intense shaayaris will certainly touch your heart. Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat in their second movie may not impress us with their moderate acting skills but they certainly make an adorable pair on-screen.
Why You Should Watch This Movie:
Exotic locations, good music and cameos by Hrishita Bhatt as the Bhabhi and Gulshan Devaiah as Yash, the fiance, make the movie a little above average. Also, if you are a Pulkit or a Yami fan, this movie could be your weekend plan. Overall, a decent attempt to make this love story a one time watch!
