If you’ve read today’s article on Justin Bieber in Times Of India, you know about the insane celebrity demands for his five-day trip (The Purpose Tour, just in case you were living under a rock) to India. It’s nothing new. In fact, we all would be a bit spoilt and habituated to comfort and luxury if we all were earning buttloads of money. Besides, who doesn't like to be pampered? Having said that, the world is full of celebrities entangled in a web of controversies. Not unlike a disfigured chewing gum that sticks to your boots and refuses to go away. It’s time we take a look at few such ‘sticky’ situations that plagued Bieber.
Comments on abortion
If you ask a 16-year-old for his views on abortion and rape, you are sure to get a lot of raised eyebrow. Rolling Stones interviewed the then 16-year-old singer for his thoughts on political and social issues. “I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber said. “It’s like killing a baby.” When it comes to cases of rape, he added, “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.” Needless to say, it invited criticism.
Anne Frank would've been a Belieber
Back in 2013, in between stops of his European Tour, Bieber visited the Anne Frank museum after reading the famous diary Frank wrote while in hiding during the holocaust. Now, that seems like a really nice gesture but then it all went horribly wrong for Justin when he wrote this: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully, she would have been a belieber." He was mocked by twitteratis and the celebrities alike.
The vandalism lawsuit
In 2014, Jeffrey Schwartz, Justin Bieber's neighbor, called the police after the singer allegedly pelted eggs at his house. Schwartz also claimed that the pop star had previously spit in his face when confronted with requests to drive slower in the neighborhood. Bieber later received two years of probation and had already paid Schwartz $89,000. But Schwartz claimed the actual damages exceeded a $1 million.
There are always two sides to the story and the benefit of the doubt is almost never for the celeb. However, we must understand that they are humans too, some younger than the others. Whatever said and done, these controversies don't dampen our excitement for his upcoming tour, do they now, Beliebers?
