Justin Bieber vs One Direction: The Showdown of the Century

Every generation has at least one epic feud or rivalry that defines pop culture for them. Whether it’s Backstreet Boys vs *NSYNC or Marvel vs DC, we know everyone picks sides. But what about kids today? If you think they don’t make pop culture rivalries like they used to, you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years. These days, we have One Direction vs Justin Bieber. And what a rivalry it has been! The best part? It looks like we might just get to find out who’s the better act, this year. Yes, both 1D and Bieber are set to release their albums on November 13. Who will rule the charts? Let’s find out.

Tweet Tweet

It’s no secret that all the teen heartthrobs are social media kings. But their fans were in for a shock when Justin Bieber and Louis Tomlinson took potshots at each other on Snapchat! So, how many followers are supporting each act?

At a whopping 68 million followers on Twitter, Justin is the clear winner when it comes to social media! So, where does One Direction stand? Though the band has a following of 25.2 million on Twitter, the Biebs is lightyears ahead!

The F Word

Yes, Justin has many more followers than 1D, but how nice is each act to their fans?

While One Direction has garnered praise for how nicely they treat their fans, Justin has been under fire for his antics over the last few years. From spitting on fans to egging houses, he has been all over the news, for all the wrong reasons. We’re not sure if his reputation can recover from that kind of a hit. It’s pretty clear that One Direction are the clear fan favorite here.

Cheerleaders

Though he may be on shaky ground with his fans and the general public, Justin knows how to bring in the star power. So, which celebs have come out in support of Justin’s newest single? Kylie Jenner, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Shaquille O’Neal and Britney Spears… to name a few!

The Road to the Album

It’s no surprise that both artists’ lead singles, Where Are U Now and Drag Me Down, have sold well. But with the 2x Platinum certification, Justin is off to a better start!

Concert Sales

A good album is best enjoyed live in concert. But which artist does better when it comes to concert sales? One Direction, whose Where We Are Tour is the 12th highest grossing tour of all time! Though the Biebs can sell out stadiums, too, One Direction are in another league entirely!

The Wild Card

Right now, it seems like both acts are going head to head. But there’s a very important wild card at play. This is One Direction‘s first studio album as a 4-member band. Will Zayn Malik‘s departure hurt their sales, or will the newfound sympathy and support boost them? We’ll find out on November 13!
