4 Directors Who Are Changing the Face of Kannada Cinema

 Kannada cinema can be considered to be one of the growing film industries in India. Every year, the Kannada film industry produces films of different genres. Some are content driven while the others are masala entertainers. Late Kannada film legends actor Rajkumar and director Puttanna Kanagal are often named as those who helped build Kannada cinema. While Rajkumar is regarded as a force who shaped the Kannada film industry, Puttanna Kanagal is hailed as one of Kannada cinema’s greatest directors. Now, the Kannada film industry is recognized for more reasons. A fresh brigade of filmmakers are now delivering new age films that are gaining the attention of other film industries. Here’s a list of some directors who are changing the face of Kannada cinema.

 
Before Films: Anup Bhandari worked as an engineer at Infosys for nine years.
 
 
Imagine a film still running in cinemas almost a year after its release! The film RangiTaranga has accomplished this terrific feat. in 2016, The film is still screening at cinema houses in Bangalore. But what’s special about this Kannada film? Directed by debutant Anup Bhandari, this horror-thriller stayed almost true to its genre and not using any English/Hindi language in the dialogues or songs. The plot of the film revolves around a novelist and his wife who visit a remote village where the two encounter mysterious events. The success of the film made it eligible for the nomination list for the 88th Academy Awards. However, the film failed to make it to the final nomination list. Anup Bhandari was also the music composer of the film. 
 
 
Before Films: Pawan Kumar was a college dropout (he quit engineering)
 
 
If there’s a film which challenged the traditional sequence of a way a film is presented, it is Lucia. Directed by Pawan Kumar, this film revolved around a man’s addiction to a pill, that took helped him achieve the impossible. The film’s climax also came as a surprise. The unique style of this presentation, along and its technical brilliance has made this film an interesting watch. In 2016, Pawan Kumar proved that he wasn’t a one-hit wonder, as his latest film U Turn opened to overwhelming response. The film shed light on the road safety rules. The film’s gripping story put a spin on the thriller genre. This film was also screened at the New York Indian Film Festival.
 
 
Before Films: Rakshit Shetty worked as an engineer.
 
 
Rakshit Shetty is gradually cementing his position as an actor and director in the Kannada film industry. He made his directorial debut with the film Ulidavaru Kandanthe. The film was set in a small fishing town and was an anthology of five stories. The film won him Rakshit Shetty the Karnataka State Award and Filmfare Award. Rakshit Shetty’s latest film as an actor, Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, has also gained positive reviews.
 
 
Before Films: Raam Reddy is an economics graduate.
 
 
Director Raam Reddy’s directorial debut, Thithi, is winning accolades from all over the world. The film is a comedy that follows three generations of sons reacting to the death of the oldest in their clan, Century Gowda. The unique aspect of this film is that it featured non-professional actors. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada. The film also won the Golden Leopard at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival last year and it is believed to have been nominated in three more categories: Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, at Shanghai International Film Festival. Famed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola also showered praise on the film. Now, that’s something!

    My worry only about sandal wood, by going behind remake and refusing that original impact. Weak in sinkranaization of Acting and dubbing. Audians are also grownup very well don't spoon feed them
