Kapil Sharma’s entry in Bollywood

While Kapil Sharma’s stint in television has undoubtedly secured a good score for the comedian, the actor, this year brings in more surprise. After having done stand-up comedy and anchoring for the longest time, Kapil will be seen making his debut in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Bank-Chor’. The film that goes on floor this April has director Bumpy call the shots who previously made Shraddha Kapoor-starrer ‘Luv Ka The End’. Kapil Sharma’s non-fiction show ‘Comedy nights with Kapil’ grabbed eyeballs soon after it was showcased to the audience on July 2013. The actor known for his comic timing and spontaneity on stage has been receiving appreciations galore.

Bank-Chor is made under Y-Films, the youth film division of Yash Raj Films. Kapil who has also signed a 3-film contract promises his audience of more entertainment down the line. Bank-Chor is a story of three characters who plan a heist and choose the worst day possible when everything that can go haywire does so. The comic-thriller shows the three getting trapped by politicians, top-notch industrialists and cops.

Kapil joins the Bollywood brigade with a dream launch under Y-films that gave ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ last year. The increasing talent in television has surely found a success mantra in making transition from the small screen to celluloid. Earlier in 2013, Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh meticulously bagged roles in one of the biggest films ‘Kai Po Che’. Anchor and comedian Manish Paul was seen in ‘Mickey Virus’ which launched him as an actor. After creating a niche for themselves through fiction and reality shows, the number of upcoming talent in B-town is seen to soar.

From being a contestant and competing with abundant talent to having a maiden show, Kapil has been the face of comedy for the Indian audience. The anchor who has been honored with the CNN-IBN Indian of the year award in the entertainment category is also loved for the characters he introduces on his show. Sharma, who has done serious theater before experimenting with comedy is excited about his film that has scope not only for comedy but as a thriller as well.

Ashish Patil, Business and Creative Head of Y-Films, known to propel talent, is excited about Kapil Sharma’s association with the country’s leading film banner. The man popular for having  his audience in splits has not only bagged three films but affirmed his presence by signing the talent management deal with Yash Raj Films.

In an age of movies when the stereotypical ‘hero-heroine’ format of films are pushed back, and the number of dynamically vibrant characters are increasingly being written; Bollywood bells seem to be ringing at the perfect time for Kapil Sharma. The audience that has found tele-therapy to laugh and ease out with Comedy Nights will surely have a reason to queue up at the Box office in the days to come!
