Almost everyone thinks that Paruthiveeran (2007) is Karthik's first screen appearance. But a true fan would know that it is not. He first appeared in Mani Ratnam’s Aaytha Ezhuthu as character Michael’s friend, played by his brother Suriya. He was a side character in the film, hence it was an uncredited role. Paruthiveeran is his debut film as the lead. To get a titular role in debut film would probably more than a dream for every newcomer. And Karthik aka Karthi did full justice to the role as the film was widely appreciated for his performances. He also won Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Tamil).
After that, he gave a series of hits like Aayirathil Oruvan with Reemma Sen and Andrea Jeremiah, Paiyaa with Tamannaah and Naan Mahaan Alla with Kajal Aggarwal. All of them were commercially successful and made him one of the most sought after actors in Tamil film industry. And then came Siruthai, an official remake of S. S. Rajamouli's blockbuster Vikramarkudu. This was the first time when he played the role of a police officer. Like the original, Siruthai was also a blockbuster. The film is the biggest hit of his career. Will the history repeat as he going to wear the khaki again?
His upcoming movie is Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, which will be directed by H Vinoth of the Sathuranga Vettai fame. He will be romancing Rakul Preet Singh on the screen for the first time. The music will be composed by Ghibran. The film is touted to be a fast-paced thriller and the makers promise that it will give a considerable adrenaline rush to the audience. Very recently he shared some of the movie stills on his Facebook page, which increased the hype for the movie. And the reactions that he got from fans show that they are eagerly waiting for the movie.
Looks like 2017 will prove to be another notable year in his career. Here’s wishing the talented actor, a very happy birthday. We hope that he continues to entertain his fans.
