Ladki jo chhat se apne papa ko thakel deti hai, usse ka kehte hai batao?

What’s life without some PJs? And what’s a Bollywood film without some Kill and Dil?

Fresh from Yash Raj Films, we have Shaad Ali’s Kill/Dil.

Here’s a warning before you continue: in case you are expecting an Indian version of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, please change your movie plans. There are no rivers of blood. No kung-fu. And, absolutely NO Uma Thurman!

Coming back to Kill/Dil, the film is a mad sugar rush. It’s just pure entertainment. There is action, drama, romance and Govinda!  Kill/Dil gets off to a terrific start. Shaad Ali injects fun into every scene. It traces the lives of Dev (Ranveer Singh) and Tutu (Ali Zafar) who work for the boorish Bhaiya-ji (Govinda). Their lives take a wild turn when Dev falls in love with Disha (Parineeti Chopra) a free-spirited woman who drives a Ferrari… ahem!

Bromance isn’t new to Yash Raj films. From the Dhoom franchise to Gunday and now Kill/Dil, we get to see macho men romancing guns and bashing goons in slo-mo. Besides all that, Kill/Dil is also a comeback for Govinda. He plays the character of Bhaiya-ji with panache. With dialogues like "Moongfali mein chhilke aur laundiyon mein nakhre na hote, toh zindagi kitni aasaan hoti", Govinda is perfect as the antagonist with a sense of humor and moves like Jagger.

But, the fun fades away. The climax of the film could have been better. The latter half of the film gets unnecessarily melodramatic.

Ranveer Singh is energetic. Ali Zafar is too stiff. Parineeti plays her part well. However, the chemistry between Tutu and Dev seems more genuine than between Dev and Disha. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good enough to kickstart your Bollywood night party this weekend, especially the title track.

Why should you watch the film?
If you enjoy killer dialogues and silly jokes, Kill/Dil is the perfect movie for the weekend. Otherwise, you can give this one a miss.
