Know your team: Micromax Indian Aces

The whole world is excited, as the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) is drawing closer. Where else would you get to see the biggest names in tennis going head to head with each other?

This grand league will see the best line-ups in the form of teams that will battle it out for the coveted IPTL trophy. One of the favorite teams in this league are the Micromax Indian Aces. Let’s have a look at their team:

Fabrice Santoro

Fabrice Santoro is definitely a delight to watch on the court. Known for his trick shots, Pete Samrpas called him “The Magician”. Santoro holds several ATP records and is the only male player to have played in Grand Slam competitions across four different decades.

Roger Federer

There is hardly a soul in this world who does not know who Roger Federer is. FedEx, as he is referred to in the tennis world, has held the world number 1 position for 302 weeks and has won 17 Grand Slam titles. He has broken almost every record there is to break. He is a brilliant player and an amazing person to top it off. He runs his own foundation to empower impoverished children through education.

Sania Mirza

She is the player who put India back again on the map when it came to tennis. She has been the highest-ranked player in India and has won a WTA title as well as a Grand Slam title. Sania Mirza has won the French Open doubles titles and has rightfully made her name as one of the most influential women in India today.

Ana Ivanovic

Ana found her calling at a very young age. Today, she has won a total of 14 WTA singles titles. She is known for her aggression on the court, and her warm personality off it. With her impressive forehand shot, Ana Ivanovic is on her way to enter the tennis Hall of Fame.

Gael Monfils

La Monf, as the world fondly knows Gael Monfils, is one of the finest players to emerge from France. He is known for his quick response on court, where he slides to perfectly time the shot. He has won 4 ATP titles and has also reached the semi finals of three different French Open matches.

Pete Sampras

He is undoubtedly a legend in the world of tennis. At the age of 19, he became the youngest player to ever win the US Open. After winning consecutive championships, Sampras stayed at the No. 1 position for a total of 286 weeks. His game is always watched by aspiring players to gain an in-depth knowledge about tennis itself.

Rohan Bopanna

A distinguished doubles player, Rohan Bopanna has reached 26 ATP finals and has won 9 of them. He is one of the most promising players from India and has set a benchmark with his style. He has also tried to address the political unrest in the country with his on-field partnership with Aisam Qureshi. In 2010, he was awarded the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year award for his endeavors.
